I’ve been working on this project for a while, and have made good progress. Current point of work is building a drying cabinet for my shredded PETE, as it readily absorbs moisture, which in turns impacts it’s strength. Cabinet will follow industry methods of drying, blowing in air that has been run through desiccant to remove moisture, in turn removing moisture from the plastic, which is then blown outside or into the room. Once desiccant is fully used, stick it in the oven for a while to remove the water and start again.
In particular, at the moment, I’m looking for help with that drying cabinet. Any tips, especially from those who have worked with similar techniques before, would be greatly appreciated.
@okkarlo Hey, thanks for letting me know about this. I hadn’t looked at it, 3devo makes prohibitively expensive hardware, but I’ve sent them an email to inquire as to their drying method. It’s unlikely I’ll buy one, as they are likely to cost far more than they’re worth (their desktop shredder unit costs something like 3.5K euros).
