Idea for Contactless UV-C Sterilizing Delivery Service
UV-C light is said to kill the virus on exposure. The virus can be spread on surfaces, meaning that groceries and supplies deliveries can be part of the chain of infection. These deliveries are most urgently required by vulnerable people in isolation and sick people in quarantine.
Idea: UV-C Sterilizing Car Top Box
A car top box could potentially be adapted to house UV-C lights, the interior surfaces coated with reflective material such as aluminium foil, and an actuator fitted so that the top box can be opened from inside the vehicle. A small loudspeaker could also be mounted with a microphone for communication.
The driver can then collect groceries etc which are loaded into the top box. Without getting out of the vehicle, the driver can then close the top box and turn on the UV-C light. This should sterilize the contents of the top box while the vehicle is traveling. On arrival, the driver can open the box for unloading, again without leaving the vehicle and risking exposure.
