I just came across this handbook for small scale plastics recycling that was written back in 1984. It is incredible in its depth and simplicity. It has details on plastic properties, how to run a recycling business, how to clean plastic, and even basic diagrams of how to build what seem to be much higher volume shredders, extruders, etc…
I HIGHLY recommend checking it out for a lot of inspiration. I’ve attached a picture of a simple granulator which seems to be very similar to most smaller-scale commercial machines that I’ve found.
